WHF: 80% of Early Deaths due to Cardiovascular Disease

As many as 80% of early deaths occur worldwide on average due to cardiovascular diseases – such as heart disease and stroke, according to data from the World Heart Federation (WHF) or Indonesia Heart Foundation.

Cardiovascular is a blood vessel system and heart. When it is attacked, it could increase the risk of death higher. Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death in the world, killing as many as 17.3 million people annually.

“Checkup blood pressure and blood sugar regularly expected to remind the public of the importance of protecting health,” said The Chairman of Indonesian Heart Foundation, Syahlina Zuhal, in Jakarta.

“In addition, we also expect to the public to remain vigilant against the threat of cardiovascular disease that can affect anyone, regardless of sex and age,” She continued.

World Heart Day is celebrated every year on September 29, with a different theme, corresponding key issues, and topics related to heart health.

In celebration of World Heart Day this year, the Indonesian Heart Foundation give an education to public according to the importance of regular health checks for optimal heart health.

Cardiovascular disease actually can be prevented, if the four main risk factors such as smoking, consume less healthy foods, lack of physical activity, and excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages can be controlled.
