Skin Care for Mothers and Babies

Why is the skin care very important for both mother and baby?

Busyness after giving birth is inevitable. Moreover, the needs of the baby are very much and unpredictable. Physical and psychological fatigue is experienced will be visible on the skin, especially the skin of the face.

Especially with hormonal changes that can cause changes in the skin. Added by, the baby's skin condition that usually is quite sensitive. Then, what are the skincare which needs to be done for the mother and baby?

You should remain to spend your time to do basic skin care, even if you just given birth. No matter how busy you are, a habit of washing face should still be maintained.

For you who have dry skin, it should be better choose a mild soap that does not contain a lot of foam and you can use it twice a day. Do not forget to use a moisturizer immediately after washing your face.

Meanwhile, some of you who have oily skin or acne can use a gentle cleanser, oil free and non-abrasive. Clean your skin regularly, two to three times a day.

Do not too often doing it, because it will stimulate the production of oil glands. Also, choose a moisturizer with the non-comedogenic label so as not to aggravate the skin condition.

During breastfeeding, there are several compounds that should be avoided such as retinoic acid, hydroquinone, and so on. Consult with your doctor to determine appropriate skin care products with your skin conditions.

Baby Skin Care

Please remember, the baby's skin is very delicate and sensitive. Use the principle of less is more when choosing baby care products. Products without the content of dyes, preservatives, or fragrances that are too pungent are the right choice.

In addition, limit your bath time about 3-5 minutes and avoid contact with soapy water too long. Do not forget to apply a moisturizer immediately after bathing. The intensity of using moisturizers can be improved when the baby's skin tends to dry or in cold weather.

Care of diaper area should be considered also. Change diapers when it wet or at least every 4-6 hours. When changing a diaper, clean the area with a damp cloth, not wet wipes or cleaner which contain the alcohol. After that, the diaper area is aerated as possible so that the skin can 'breathe'.
