Decrease the Cholesterol Levels with Whey Protein

For fitness enthusiasts, whey protein may sound familiar. Besides helping muscle growth, whey protein can also decrease cholesterol levels in the body, you know!

Whey protein is a substance originated from milk. Essentially, milk contains two types of proteins, namely casein (80%) and whey protein (20%).

Whey protein can be regarded as a complete protein because it contains essential amino acids. This substance is usually used as a sports supplementation to increase the synthesis of muscle protein and stimulate the growth of muscle tissue.

Whey protein affects the process of fat metabolism in the liver, reducing cholesterol absorption in the gut, inhibits the synthesis or formation of cholesterol, increase disposal through feces.

Besides to reducing levels of fat in the body, whey protein also helps restore energy after intense exercise, increase insulin sensitivity, and lower blood pressure.

Not only that, this type of protein also helps to lose weight by suppressing appetite. Even whey protein can also inhibit the course of a cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, and diabetes.

Recommended Dosage
In order to provide significant benefits, the recommended whey protein dose is 20-30 grams of protein, without exceeding 1.2 grams/kg body weight. For example, your weight 70 kg, then whey protein consumed in a day should not exceed 84 grams of protein.

There are some special conditions in which the consumption of whey protein can be considered. Like, does not get enough protein, participating in sports groups, trying to lose weight, a vegetarian, or have special medical needs such as cancer, HIV or diabetes.

Remember, although whey protein has many benefits, a major source of protein must still come from food. You can get it from chicken, beef, egg white, and fish.
